Owner of Kemble Airport
CEO of KAE and KAS Ronan trained as an aircraft engineer with the RAF and post the RAF worked for an airline before developing his own network of business. In 1995 he moved Polydron International into G Site and he formed Delta Jets and became involved with the management of the airfield. Ronan, who had previously started, and developed the Northampton Balloon Festival, was the driving force behind the first civilian run Kemble Air Day in 1996 and the ‘architect’ of proposals for the future of Kemble leading to his purchase of the estate in March 2001. His passion for the airfield and investment in it led to the opening of the AV8 Restaurant and CAA Licensing in 2002, the development of the annual Air Day to national event status and more recently the construction of 12 new GA hangars. Ronan, holds a twin aircraft rating, a helicopter licence, is an aerobatic pilot, and has flown solo in a Hunter jet. His other passion is sailing and he now lives in Vanuatu. His daughter, Suzannah, joined the KAS Board in 2008.
Senior Management
Airport Manager David Young, Airport Manager, moved his microlight school to Kemble in April 1995 and as the first MOD civilian tenant commenced operating the airfield. He was instrumental in seeing the re-emergence of Kemble as a civilian aerodrome and he has been a key player in management to date. Kemble Flying Club, formed back in 1995, remains a specialist in microlight aviation and David, known as 'dy' to most of us, still teaches occasionally for fun and is a NPPL (Microlight) Examiner. He has over 7,000 hours flying experience, mostly instruction, and has flown on renowned microlight expeditions in Nepal and Africa. He was elected a Director of KAS in 2003 and became Airport Manager in September 2004. David has two boys aged 12 and 14 and is a regular squash player with them. He enjoys fell walking and completed the Three Peaks Challenge this year helping raise over £3,000 for a local charity.

Title: Head of accounts
Joining Kemble Air Services in 2003 Sally heads up the accounts team who are responsible for the accounting functions of the airport. Sally produces monthly management accounting reports and the year end accounts for the Board of Directors and has developed the systems for the increasingly thriving airport we have today. Included in her duties is the payroll function for our specialized full time team and our pool of valued part time and casual employees, so she is popular at least once a month. Flights of fancy include badminton, golf, holidays, entertaining family & friends (given the time), dancing (given the chance) and home improvements. Well one has to dust occasionally! The ethos at KAS is simple – bring the outside world in for the mutual benefit of visitors, based and management operators alike and she enjoys being part of the team who are continually progressing the airport.
