Kemble Airport will be closed 24th December 08 to 1st January 2009 inclusive.
Noise Abatement
PLEASE DO NOT over-fly ANY local villages in the Kemble area.
Noise Abatement Procedures 2008
The over-flight of houses, hamlets and villages in the proximity of the aerodrome is to be avoided when joining, or flying in the circuit. Straight in approaches are not encouraged. Arriving/departing pilots shall be reminded of the noise abatement procedures.
Runway 26 - Left Hand
Departures:
Do not climb out straight ahead on departure. Turn Right 20 degrees after take off to avoid Culkerton Village (1.5 miles west of the aerodrome on the centre line) and then resume own navigation.
Circuit Traffic:
Turn crosswind early before reaching Culkerton and Ashley Villages. Continue downwind to turn base leg east of the railway line avoiding Kemble Wick. Turn onto final before reaching Kemble Village.
Straight In Approaches:
Straight in approaches are not encouraged. If requested straight in approaches are offset to the South to avoid Kemble Village.
Runway 08 – Left Hand
Departures:
Do not climb out straight ahead on departure. Turn Right or Left 20 degrees after departure to avoid Kemble Village (1.5 miles East of the aerodrome on the centre line) and then resume own navigation.
Circuit Traffic:
Turn left on to the crosswind leg before reaching Kemble Village. Continue downwind keeping North of Rodmarton Village. Turn onto final before reaching Culkerton village.
CAUTION: beware the proximity of Aston Down.
Straight In Approaches:
Straight in approaches are not encouraged. If requested straight in approaches are offset to the North to avoid Culkerton.
General:
Avoid all local villages
Keep a good look out in the vicinity of Aston Down aerodrome 3nm to the north west of Kemble as they are active daily with Gliders. Keep well clear of South Cerney aerodrome 3.5nm to the east of Kemble as they are frequently active with para dropping up to FL130.
Straight in approaches are not encouraged for the noise abatement.
If requested Runway 26 long final if offset ½ NM to the South to avoid Kemble village.
If requested Runway 08 long final if offset ½ NM to the North to avoid Culkerton village.
Take particular care in the circuit to avoid the small villages to the South of the airfield.

South Cerney & Aston Down are VERY ACTIVE, 7 days a week - please give both a wide berth!
Aston Down is JUST outside our zone to the North West of Kemble, winch-launching gliders up to 3000ft AGL. South Cerney is to the East of Kemble and the military drop zone is frequently active, 2 nautical miles radius up to FL130!
RAF Lyneham has established a low level VFR route for C130 Hercules traffic North/South immediately to the East of the Kemble zone, keep a good lookout!
Diversions: Kemble Airport is a member of AOPA ( Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). As part of the AOPA scheme, all weather and genuine diversions into Kemble Airport are FREE of landings fee charges.
